Bedrock Books shows its appreciation for Nurses on International Nurses Day

12th May, 2021

Bedrock Books showed its appreciation for the unceasing work of nurses, by gifting 125 books, donated by volunteers, to the intensive care nurses at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust on International Nurses Day.

Leading in a pandemic has had a tremendous impact on the wellbeing of our nurses. They have been caring for huge numbers of extremely sick people, many of whom unfortunately died, working long hours in challenging conditions, smothered in personal protective equipment.

The initiative coincides with International Nurses Day 2021, the theme of which is, “Nurses: A Voice to Lead – A vision for future healthcare“, with the Royal College of Nursing showcasing the fundamental role of nurses and how they have led patient care during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lesley Cooper, Co-founder of Bedrock Books, said, “After caring so much for others, we wanted to show our appreciation to the intensive care nurses. We chose Peace is Possible (by International Peace Ambassador, Prem Rawat), a book that would remind them of their own inner strengths and the need to care and appreciate themselves.”

Molly Chibvuri, Matron for Intensive Care at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust said:

“Intensive care units faced the biggest crisis in the history of the NHS, which has had a tremendous impact on the health and wellbeing of so many of us who have provided care in some of the most difficult circumstances. I would like to thank Bedrock Books for their thoughtful gift. Reading Peace is Possible by Prem Rawat will hopefully help us to unwind, recharge, and inspire us to appreciate ourselves more, so that we can continue to provide patients and their families the best care possible.”
